The Correct Time Zone for You–My Convoluted Theory
No comments · Posted by admin in General
I’ll admit it – I am a night person. I rarely get to bed before 11:30 p.m. Frequently it’s 12 or 12:30 a.m. I normally get up at 6:30 or 7 a.m. every morning. I believe that that is the ideal time to rise.
The challenge I have is that many of my friends and business associates are morning people. It’s common for them to get up at 5 a.m. They pride themselves on how much they can get done
Before The Sun Comes Up
They tell me how they can work interrupted. They can get their day organized. They find that they are able to accomplish much more during the day with this routine.
If I had to get up at 5 a.m. every day, I would drive everyone around me crazy. On those days when I do get up at that time, I find that I am very irritable by 10 a.m. I get more irritable as the day goes on. I would hate to be the person who approaches me at 4 or 5 in the afternoon. At that point I am ready to tear their head off.
I also find that I do not work as well when I get up earlier than 6:30 a.m. My work is not as good. I am also prone to making more mistakes.
I originally thought that I stayed up late because I was afraid that I was going to miss something important by going to bed earlier. So I had to stay awake until
Everyone Else Went to Bed
That way I would never miss anything.
As I have gotten older I realized that that may not have been the real reason I stayed up late at night. It may be something much more simple. It may have to do with my biological clock.
You see I grew up in Pennsylvania. I spent most of my adult life in the eastern time zone. In 1994 I moved to Illinois which is in the central time zone. I found it much easier for me to get up regularly at 6:30 or 7 a.m in the central time zone than I ever did in the eastern time zone. I think that living in the central time zone is the ideal place for me and my biological clock.
My Convoluted Theory
So now I believe that the standard time for people to get up is either 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. The only reason they are not getting up at that time daily is that they are living in the wrong time zone.
Ideally my friends here in Illinois who get up at 5:00 am daily need to move to somewhere as far east in the eastern time zone as possible . If they did that they would be getting up at 6:00. Even then that would still be 30 minutes earlier than the ideal time.
There is a way for them to adjust to this. They could move to the Canadian province of Newfoundland. There it is 6:30 a.m. when it is 5:00 a.m. in Chicago.
Then there are those people like my wife who can not get up at 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. Their ideal time to rise may be 8:00 or 8:30. They would have to move west to California or any state in the Pacific Time Zone.
Just Imagine If People Did That
Except on rare occasions everyone would be getting up at the same time every day. They all would be much happier because they would be following their biological clock. There would be less fighting. Everyone would get along much better.
On the other hand
What If I am Wrong
What if the ideal time to get up is 5:00 a.m? That would mean that I would have to move to either Denver or California. My body would adjust. However, I would be getting up before the sun rose every day. I don’t know if I would like that. You know – It’s not right to get up before the sun.
Have a great day,
Bob Paroski
